Useful Applications

There are some web sites and applications on the mobile phone which can enable us to have quick recall or refresh of the particular aircraft systems. One of the popular is this Mobile Airlinestech. You can add it to your phone shortcut for easy access, but you required an active ISP to access it. Below are some steps show how to add to your Android homepage.

STEP 1: Go to Chrome and type http://mobile.airlinetechs.com/ . After that select the menu key.
STEP 2: A list will show and than select Add to Home Screen.
STEP 3: Put any name you want to name the shortcut, as default is Mobile Tech.
After that you will see the shortcut with the icon show on your Home Screen.

An example of what you gonna get inside the web:

Another very useful application is MEL calculator. Well I still count by myself to double every time. You can get it on the PlayStore on Android. As you can see at the playstore, there are few applications for MEL calculator, you can try it out and make sure to double check the date of expiry because some are not accurate.

Below is the example:

AUTO FLT FCU 1 FAULT

Pilot Entry : AUTO FLT FCU 1 FAULT
PFR:

Fault Confrmation:

Reference to TSM, do fault confirmation, than fault isolation. FCU reset procedure can be carry out as per TSM-24-81-00-810-802-A. (Please refer to full TSM procedures, this is just to show what is going on. Different TSM will have different procedures.)

If reset unsuccessful, we can apply MEL.

MEL Entries:
Note: No dispatch is FCU 1+2 Fault

MEL Items:

Different aircraft config might have different requirements, always refer to the approved and latest maintenance data.

Flight Control Unit Description:
This description only deals with the central part of the Flight Control Unit (FCU). In general, the FCU provides the short term interface between the crew and the Flight Management and Guidance System (FMGS). The FCU is the main interface to engage functions and guidance modes and to select parameters.
NOTE: In fact, there is one FCU panel which controls two identical processing channels: FCU 1 and FCU 2. Only one channel is active at a time, the other is in standby. If both channels fail, all FCU controls are inoperative: A/THR, AP/Flight Director (FD) 1 and AP/FD 2 are not available.
